Butuan City, November 25, 2024 โ Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU) kicks off the 90th National Book Week with a diverse range of events organized by the FSUU Learning Resource Center (LRC), the English Society, and the English Language Society. Themed 'Magbasa, Mangarap, Magdiwang,' this week-long celebration promises an exciting mix of activities designed to celebrate the power of books that inspire curiosity and shape minds.
From November 25 to 29, FSUUโs campus has transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity and learning, with a range of events designed to engage every member of the university community.
The FSUU Learning Resource Center (LRC) has organized a book exhibit featuring a wide selection of genres, from timeless classics and contemporary works to books by local authors and international bestsellers. Books will also be available for sale at discounted prices, offering an opportunity for students and faculty to enhance their personal collections.
Moreover, a series of literary workshops and contests, including creative writing sessions, poetry slams, and essay competitions, will be held throughout the week to nurture studentsโ creativity and literary skills. In addition, reading marathons and book clubs have been organized, offering students the chance to engage in group readings and discussions of various literary works, fostering a deeper appreciation for literature.
Meanwhile, the English Society (ES) and the English Language Society (ELS) have joined forces to present a vibrant display of language and literature. The CBS Lobby has been transformed into an interactive and informative space, featuring a gallery walk that explores the rich history and structures of language, alongside celebrated works in Afro-Asian and Anglo-American literature.
The exhibit highlights the evolution of language and its role in shaping societies, while also showcasing iconic literary works. Adding to the excitement, interactive games have been set up to engage visitors in fun, educational ways, allowing them to learn through play. A photo booth is also available for those who wish to capture memories against the vibrant backdrop of the exhibit.
This milestone reflects the university's commitment to academic excellence, community engagement, and the enduring value of reading, inspiring and inviting students to think critically, imagine creatively, and grow intellectually.
In an era where digital screens often overshadow physical books, the Learning Resource Center (LRC), English Society, and English Language Society have created an engaging space that highlights the power of books, language, and literature, making the 90th National Book Week an event to remember. As the university continues this historic tradition, FSUU's dedication to cultivating a reading culture remains stronger than ever, with even greater possibilities ahead for the next 90 years.
